Appreciate help with accommodation dilemma

I know this question is asked a lot - it seems to be a common on in big cities, so apologies in advance.

We are looking for family accommodation for Easter - 2 adults and 2 children. The Salisbury Y and Hotel Benito do not have any family rooms available. I have searched high and low but am getting frustrated.

We would prefer to be somewher central ( Central?) and in the same room, although adjoining rooms is o.k. if the budget permits ( that can get VERY expensive).

Are there any little Guest Houses/B%26amp;B or traditional style places such as we found in Japan ( Ryokans ?). Or a self contained unit would be great but again the ones on this site seem to only sleep 2-3.

many thanks

Appreciate help with accommodation dilemma

Langham place has Quad rooms, dunno yr. budget tho.

Appreciate help with accommodation dilemma

http://www.olympicterrace.com.hk/index.asp

they do short term rentals

not in central but then transpo in hk is very accessible and efficient

Thank you I have sent an email to Olympic. Langham place tell me 3 is their maximum (??).

I have spent some time trawling the net and widened the search to include Kowloon. These are the places that have availablility with quad rooms. Can you give me some advice on locations ?? ( price is not really an issue)

Marco Polo Gateway

Harbour Plaza Metropolis

Royal PLaza

The Royal Pacific

G%26#39;day, fellow Aussies.

All these places are pretty centrally located - I don%26#39;t think any of them is further apart than Brisbane Central station from the far end of Queen St mall.

And even if you don%26#39;t want to walk that far, HK%26#39;s public transport is to die for - the MTR (Underground rail) runs between Central and Kowloon side every 2 minutes , and the journey is about that long. Or you can catch the more leisurely Star ferry - it takes less than 10. Then there are the tunnel buses ...

Another option would be to look at properties like the Ramada or Island Pacific in HK island western district, although these are a monstrous 30 - 40 minutes walk (or 5 - 10 minutes by bus, a little onger by tram) to the centre of downtown Central. Nobody in HK has a bus timetable - you don%26#39;t need them when the buses run every 5 - 10 minutes.

thankyou oisann !

I did try the others you mentioned - in fact every hotel on both HK Island and Kowloon but the 4 I mention are the only ones available for quad rooms.

Sounds like I will just pick one %26amp; get it over with.

We are thinking 4 nights in HK %26amp; then going to Shenzhen for 2. Is that a good idea ?

ps. We spent our xmas holidays in Japan so experiencing world class public transport was an absolute treat. Cant wait to do it again in H.K. !

2 nights in Shenzhen may be excessive. What do you want to do there?

I agree with CaroSydney - unless the entire family are rabid shopaholics, 2 nights in SZ is at least one night too many. If I took a visitor we might spend half a day shopping and half a day at Splendid China / Culture Village. Maybe I%26#39;m missing something!

If you want to save on accommodation, come and spend a night or two (midweek) in Macau :-D There%26#39;s more variety of sights and activities suitable for families in ';my'; little city than in sprawling Shenzhen. And then there%26#39;s the food ...

Have you tried Holiday Inn Express, as they do family rooms for 2 adults and 2 children ?

Langham Place is interesting - they advertise quad rooms. Are you sure you didn%26#39;t get in touch with the Langham -a different hotel.

Guerilla you could be right. Now when I look I can find quad room %26amp; there is availability. It is a fair bit more expensive so will just mull over whether its worth it etc...

Yes, was only really planning on going to Shenzhen to shop %26amp; yes, hubby will be a very reluctant participant.

We have 6 nights %26amp; 7 days. What would be be a good itinery without racing around like mad things ( ie. see Europe in 10 days !)and without doubling back on ourselves all the time. Our kids are 7 %26amp; 11 ( I am trying to avoid Disneyland - please dont tell them about it! They still dont know there was one in Tokyo,LOL)

We loooooove food, markets %26amp; cultural activities. Hope to visit Lamua(?) island.

many thanks again.
