Octopus Card...Where to Get...How to Reload

Okay, so I have read a bunch of the messages here in the forum, as well as searched online.

We are flying into Hong Kong tomorrow and want to pickup the octopus cards at the airport.

From what I understand, it is better to go to the kiosk near the express train and show your foreign passport. It looks like it will cost $150 HK to get the card. Is this the right place? Is there a better option?

Now my question is how can I pay for the card, some other members that are in my party arrived today and called to tell me they only accept cash...something that I do not have enough of to purchase two cards. Is there a way to pay via credit card? If not, where is the best place to withdraw money...I assume an ATM would be the best option, no?

Yes, the kiosk at the Airport Express Train in the correct place to buy the card and you need to pay by cash. There are plenty of ATM%26#39;s available at the airport.

You can re-load your card at 7-11%26#39;s or at the MTR stations.

To Re-load the card, does it have to be cash? Or can a credit card be used?

Is it cash only, or are travelers checks accepted?

You need cash to reload your card.

Is it possible to buy an Octopus card anywhere other than at the airport?

You can buy the Octopus card at MTR service centers within the MTR stations. Again, they only take cash.

Thank you, its just in case I don%26#39;t get it at the airport.

You don%26#39;t need to show your passport to buy an Octopus Card, anybody can buy one. You may however be asked to show it if you purchase one of the tourist products such as the Airport Express Travel Pass.
