my wife and i are doing an 18 day guided tour of china with a four day river cruise included. all the major attractions are covered in the package. we have several free days and would like travelers opinions for things that are a MUST in your opinion that we should do. we will be in Shanghai,Beijing,Xian,Wuhan,Yichang,Chongquing and Guilin. by ourselves or with a local guide does not matter. we are open to all suggestions,simple or grand. cost is not an option.is there something special that you did and would like to recommend to us?

Hi, Are your free days spread out between cities or are you adding them on at the beginning or end of your trip.

Ie: If you had a spare day in Chongqing then you could do a day trip to Dazu to see the famous rock carvings.

Or if in Guilin then you could spend all your time in nearby Yangshuo. Bike riding, river rides, visiting little towns %26amp; markets.The cities of Nanjing or Hangzhou which are near Shanghai.

Or if you wanted to spend all your extra time in just one place before or after then look at places in Yunnan such as Dali or Lijiang or lots of places in Sichuan to see. The list is endless.

BTW, it%26#39;s spelt Chongqing not Chongquing. In pinyin, unlike English, ';q'; is not necessarily followed by ';u';.
