cheapest transport from Pudong Airport to Shanghai city

Hi all, could I get some advice on the cheapest mode of transport from Pudong Airport to a good reputable hostel?

I need recommendation on a safe hostel in safe area as I am traveling alone.

What are the places I must visit in Shanghai given 4 days there? What is the must try in Shanghai?

What are the places I have to avoid?

Thank you so much in advance.

Excuse me, but it seems that you%26#39;re asking extremely basic questions which would be easily answered by destinations guides, both in print and online. I%26#39;ve listed some URLs for you to start with.

Cheapest mode of transport from Pudong airport to town would be airport shuttle. Which line you take would depend on where you%26#39;re going. I presume you%26#39;re not arriving at some odd hour when they wouldn%26#39;t be running.

For hostels, Etour IYH and Hiker IYH are the most centrally-located.

I wouldn%26#39;t say that there%26#39;re any really unsafe areas in Shanghai. Be on the usual alert for pickpockets and scammers, keep your valuables preferably in a hidden moneybelt, and bags close to your body and to your front where you can always keep an eye on them.

';Must visit'; depends on your own sightseeing interests and preferences. If you want general information, refer to the destination guides. If you want more specific information, give us more details about your likes and dislikes. Similar goes for ';must try';.

Just arrived in Shanghai today ... in the afternoon did the maglev just for the sake of doing it .. Cost was Yuan 40 pp just show your boarding pass.. taxi to hotel in town yuan 45 .. hope this info helps.. currently staying Nanjing Rd ... pretty gd location .. staying in the city for 2 nites and than heading out.. let me know if u need my contact ..

The Maglev is definitely NOT the cheapest mode of transport out from Pudong airport.

Its not the cheapest but if pretty fun just to try .. if u%26#39;re from japan .. and at just 40 RMB just to try the ride .., its fun ..

In my opinion, the cheapest while still acceptable way is the shuttle bus; there could be city bus but I do not know, since city bus normally run a fixed 2 RMB (35 US cents) rate, I guess if you can find any, that would be way cheaper than the shuttle, which cost a little more than 2 USD one way.

Taxi -- 20 - 25 USD based on where you stay.

Maglev+ Taxi -- 10+ USD based on where you stay.

Meglev+ Metro -- 6+ USD based on where you stay.

Shuttle+ Taxi -- 4+ USD based on where you stay.

Shuttle+ Bus -- 3+ USD based on where you stay.

Shuttle+ Walking -- 2.8+ USD;

There%26#39;re no public buses at Pudong airport except those serving the airport area. Only airport shuttles go to the city.
