HK-Macau-Shenzhen

Hi, i will be travelling with my wife n 2 kids, both teenagers from Hong Kong to Macau. i have a few questions :

1, what is the earliest sailing from Kowloon side to Macau ferry terminal.

2. is it possible to go to Shenzhen Luohu direct from Macau?i have read an earlier post that said it can be done.i need to know whether it is faster to come back to HK n go across to luohu ( we have full chinese visas ) or is it faster to go direct from macau to shekou n then by bus/taxi to luohu ?

3.Comparative costs of above 2 routes?

4.we will go to Beijing from SZ so we dont need to come back to Kowloon/HK

5.How much time will each of the above two routes take ?

Macau-HK-Luohu and Macau-Shekou-Luohu?

6.Is it possible to also reach Luohu via Zhuhai? is this faster? cheaper?

How much time do we need to go from macau till Luohu, any route?

It is possible i may have repeated the same question in a different manner above, sorry about that :-)

Thanks in advance

1. 7 am

2. No. You can catch a ferry from Macau to Shekou in Shenzhen. Ferry takes an hour and then about an hour to Lo Wu. Only go through one immigration so quicker this way.

3. Similar costs.

4. Fly from Shenzhen airport. See www.elong.net www.ctrip.com or www.travelzen.com

5. Macau-HK-Luohu - around 3 hours (immigration takes longer)

Macau-Shekou-Luohu - around 2 hours+

6. There are ferries from Zhuhai to Shekou as well, but the border between Zhuhai and Macau is very busy.

2. To get to Lo Wu from Macau via Hong Kong would mean:

- Go through Macau immigration; ferry from Macau to Kowloon or Hk island. Go through HK immigration. MTR from TST or Sheung Wan to Lo Wu. Go through HK immigration; go through Chinese immigration.

Therefore, in my opinion, much better to catch the ferry direct to Shekou, and then bus or taxi from there.

Thanks,

it is a big help , your information.

A second option to the ferry/taxi route above would be to cross from Macau to Zhuhai and take a direct bus to LuoHu. They go every 35-40 minutes and cost about 90 RMB - total cost is about half the cost of the ferry/taxi route from Zhuhai so I%26#39;m sure would be an even bigger saving on the Macau-Shekou-LuoHu route. Again you only have the one border crossing. Time from GongBei is about 2.5 hours, however the border crossing will probably take longer than at Shekou

I suppose this is probably the cheapest way to get from Macau to Luohu ( RMB 90 )and maybe also the same amount of time as going via HK? Though considering that my wife is a lil ';at sea'; on the ferry, this maybe just the option for her..:-)

how do i get to Gongbei( i presume thats in Zhuhai where i have to take the bus to Luohu ) from macau? how much time does that take ( to get to Gongbei)?

Gongbei is the suburb of Zhuhai that you enter directly from the main border crossing from Macau.

well, so i think if i go via Gongbei, i should allow for about 3 hours to reach by land route, is that correct ?

After crossing the border and reaching the bus stop, 3 hours should be plenty.

Be aware that crossing the border at Gongbei can take an hour or more during peak periods.

We plan to leave Macau about 1 pm or so.. so what u are saying is that effectively i should look at almost 4 hours to reach Luohu in shenzhen ??

Please advise.. cos if that long.. by the time we reach there we may end up being completely exhausted.

BTW, we will be staying at the Metropark Hotel in macau.. so from there how does one reach Gongbei ? any public transport? we would have 3 medium size suitcases.. but not something that one can carry into a crowded public bus i suppose.

If by bus, what is the bus no ? and how many MOP per person? time to reach Gongbei from Metropark Hotel after check out ?

I think the Metropark has a shuttle bus running to the Gongbei border crossing - you might want to double-check with them about that. Otherwise, you can catch AP1 bus which has special large luggage racks. There is a standard busfare for all journeys on Macau peninsula, but it increased since my last visit. I think it%26#39;s now MOP/HK$ 3.20 or 3.30per pax. Either currency is acceptable, but drivers do not give change.

Yes, by road you will have to allow at least 4 hours to reach Luohu. Ferry is more expensive, but including immigration time it should take less than 3 hours. The choice is yours.
