Travel Options to & from Lijiang

Need some help guys.

we are heading from Hong Kong to Lijiang (2 Sep) for a cycling trip then up to Beijing (9 Sep). But the flights I%26#39;ve seen are AUD$1200 (RMB 5,219) per person for these two flights.

I%26#39;ve also looked at train to Guangzhou then fly but this is still AUD$1,000 (RMB4400) for the flights (plus train fare).

Anyone know any cheaper airlines or options?

Flying from Shenzhen to Lijiang will be cheaper - look on sites such as www.elong.net and www.travelzen.com for fares and schedules.

Too early to book now for September. Book in August for cheaper fares.

Where are you located? If you%26#39;re in Australia it might not be so easy to do, but if you are in Hong Kong you should try Ctrip.com they usually have pretty good prices, Hong Kong to Guilin is CNY 1270 in March, September is a long ways off, Chinese carriers only publish their rates 21-30 days ahead of time so booking this early is totally useless, you%26#39;ll only find out the real prices (for Chinese carriers) in August. Ctrip also has an online chat live help service, so if you have any questions they%26#39;ll open up a little chat window and answer whatever questions you have. Hope that helps!

Dude, I just found Guangzhou to Kunming (Ctrip doesn%26#39;t seem to have the Lijiang aiport as an option...) for CNY 690, that%26#39;s 158 AUD, a lot better than the AUD 1,000$ you%26#39;ve been quoted wouldn%26#39;t you say? Try Ctrip.com

Try flying from Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Kunming, then overnight sleeper bus to Lijiang.

Look for your flight prices in August, not now.

Have tried a few different sites including Jetabroad %26amp; Ctrip. Ctrip was over $800US pp from Guangzhou to Lijiang. There were some cheaper flights, but when I tried to book they were ll sold out and only first class tix remained ???

I will keep on the lookout over the coming months then to try different prices.

In China, prices are generally lower the later you book up to around a week or two before departure. The flight schedules are not known yet for September so you would not be able to book now for then.

Dude, ha ha, the prices on Ctrip are in RMB not US$ and there is no airport in Lijiang. Guangzhou to Kunming (then take a bus or train to Lijiang) is 150 US$, not 800 US$, the flight is only about an hour and a half! For US$800 you could fly Guangzhou to Paris! Are you sure there is no airport in Lijiang?

There is no train station in Lijiang, but there%26#39;s certainly an airport there. Please get your facts right.

Also, if you search the flights from Guangzhou to Lijiang now you will see they are very expensive to book now.

No use giving advice if it is wrong mate, but thanks for the help anyway.
