should i go to jiuzhaigou in april??

we joined a chinese tour from hong kong to chendu and jiuzhaigou on nov/08. it was facinating and memorable to say the least. now i am thinking of going back there around april of next year. this time, we just may do it on our own.

is april a good time to visit jiuzhaigou? any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

We will be in Sichuan in April but unfortunately not Jiuzhai Gou. I am pretty sure April would be okay as it is starting to warm up.

Sorry meant to add that was great you went there in November as they really need tourists back after the earthquake.

The news in our Oz newspapers lately is the death toll of the school children in the area was much more than previously released. It is so devastating %26amp; my heart goes out to them trying to recover from their losses.

since you live in Alberta, did you find Jiuzhaigou similar to the Canadian Rockies? Your comments on this will be much appreciated.

I am planning my first trip to China and still not sure if I should visit JZG because the scenery looks like that from the Rockies.

I definitely will go to Chengdu though.

June is better than April.

Jiuzhaigou is famous for the water, In June , all the trees trun green and in the high flow period. the scenery is beautiful.

In April , although the weather warm up, Jiuzhaigou locate in the high altitude, the scenery still remains like winter ,but in the winter, you can see the snowcap while in april, you can not see this snowcap scenery.

so in april jiuzhaigou just look commonly. the most important is this month is not the suitble season for appreciating the water.

i would say jiuzahigou is much prettier than the canadian rockies. lake louise is supposed to be the best in banff, but i find jiuzahioug to be better. but than beauty in the eyes of the beholder!! the water in jizuahigou is crystal clear, like in the caribbeans. lake louise%26#39;s water is not. some of these lakes have different colors too!!! i especially like the waterfalls. pictures can%26#39;t do justice to the waterfalls as it is so pretty and tranquil.

seeing the panda in chengu is a MUST.

so i guess going back in april would be good.

Above from today%26#39;s newspaper, travel to jiuzhaigou has been suspended immediately due to road blockage, check with the relevant agency before making any final arrangement.

Are flights affected as well?

Flights have not been affected. The airport is open. The road may have been blocked by an earthquake near Pingwu on Thursday but I can%26#39;t confirm this. Also road may have been restricted by the government during March.

The national park itself has not closed and like the airport, is open to all tourists.
