Thanks much! We%26#39;ll be staying at the Bund Hotel.

I will try to revise my itinerary (as suggested by CuteMinMin---thank you again!) and incorporate the other sites,

By the way, are there any must see night spots that we can go to at the end of the day?

Erm... did you read mine as well?

Hi Annie,

First, reserve your tall building visit, Pearl Tower or World Financial Center for a nice clear day. This month has been incredibly rainy, so if you find a nice clear day in March, visit your choice of high-rise immediately before the weather turns on you. The haze most of the time can make the trip to the top and the admittance fee marginal at best.

If you enjoy looking at period architecture, you might search out the Old China Hand Press Reading Room (Google search it) in the former French Concession area. They sell two full-color walking tour books which each have six distinct local walks.

The Huangpu River boat ride is another iffy way to spend money. You can see just as much of interest from the shores of the river. The rest of the river is pretty grimy industrial in nature. The ferry is a nice alternative, and cheaper.

I find the Shanghai Museum a lot to take in all at once. If you find your last day rainy, you might want to return to see the things you missed the first time through. However, Sundays are a very busy day, so get there at opening time. Get a late checkout and return to your hotel room to freshen up and store your bags with the hotel. Then you can take another Shanghai walk, visit the Jade and Longhua temples or you might enjoy the Confucius Temple, not often visited with a book fair on Sundays and the temple itself (admission charge) is almost empty and a great contemplative island in the sea of humanity in Shanghai. By all means avoid the typical Chinese attractions on Sunday, such as YuYuan Gardens, Nanjing Road, etc. Far too crowded.

Another interesting sight on nice mornings in Shanghai is to visit a local neighborhood park and observe the daily activities of the Shanghainese, such as Tai Chi, and singing in chorus or individually, etc.

Since you are spending three full days in the city, you might want to invest in the DK Eyewitness Guide to Beijing %26amp; Shanghai. Around $23, it is a cheap investment to have maps and color illustrations and pictures of everything interesting in Shanghai. All the sights are spelled out in Chinese too, so you just point at the names for the taxi drivers.

You notice I did not lay out a day-by-day plan. Because weather changes your objectives from indoor to outdoor activities and back again, I find it more convenient to fit in the outdoor stuff while you can. (Make hay while the sun shines, as they say.)

Sorry ellyse, I meant to mention your name...If you noticed my sentence was hanging there, as I was supposed to say that I will revise it to include your suggestions :) xie xie!

SoBeSparky, that is very insightful. Yeah, weather could be very tricky, we%26#39;ll make our itinerary flexible.

We plan to make the most out of the 3-day trip.. So if you have additional suggestions, they are very welcome.

Also do you have suggestion for bars and hangouts where we can have a nightcap?

I already included Xintiandi. However that might be a little expensive, so you might want to try Tongren Lu. My ';favourite'; place was actually Abbey Road in the French Concession, but that%26#39;s because it was near where I lived, and it had a Scrabble board! The food and drinks are quite decent as well. :)

Thanks elysse, yes..we%26#39;ll go to Xiantiandi.

Btw,the hotel that we are staying in is ';The Bund Riverside'; not the Bund Hotel... I think there is a difference. :)
