I am visiting beijing at the beginning of April but am unsure of the district to stay in. I want to see the normal tourist sights (forbidden city etc.) would Dong Cheng be best for this? Anyone recommmend a hotel?
Also is the metro easy to use?
Thanks for any help
Beijing Hotels
It is a big city and very spread out. No hotel is close to everything. Anywhere withing ring road 2 or ring road 3 east if fine as you can be close to the subway. The subway is easy to use with english signage and announcement and cheap.
We cannot recommend a hotel without knowing your budget. Check the hotel review on this site.
Beijing Hotels
Yes, the metro is clearly signposted in both English and Chinese characters and is easy to use.
I usually recommend staying somewhere within the 2nd ring road, comfortable walking distance to a metro stop. Personal preference for Dongcheng district.
If you want more specific hotel recommendations, state your price range.
These hotels a good in Dongchen
Grang Hyatt
Beijing hotel
(above two,some times hard to get a taxi from hotel,since they along the main street where empty taxi can not drive passby)
Penisula
Novotel Peace
Regent
Park plaza
Novotel Xinqiao
Golden palace and silver street(a little bit hard for taxi driver to find)
Haoyuan garden hotel(hutong hotel)
Kapok hotel
Days Inn forbidden city(these two you need becareful the ';friendly trap';
These all the hotels I know
Um What is the ';friendly trap';
I would guess phonecalls about massages that turn out to be prostitutes.
Beware the phone call during the late hours asking if you want company. Or the little packages supplied in some Chinese run hotels labeled as ';uncomplimentary';. In Chinese speak it means you have to buy them. It%26#39;s for um if you get visitors.
LOL visitors! The late-night kinds, I bet. ;)
Yes the ones that come tap tappin on the door for the Business man. Big shock when I open the door:0
