If you are not a local (Hong Kong resident and speak fluent Catonese) then you will get the cold shoulder with minimal service. You will not get the chance to bargain with the shops as much. Watch out for the triad run software shops as you can easily get spot them.

The best place to get legitimate software is at Wan Chai or Windsor House. The shops are more organized and well run, and you are more likely to find English speaking staff to help you. But they are all small shops and nowhere near the size of computer warehouses in the states like Circuit City and Office Depot (not even an aisle).

Check prices online before you shop. I think you will find them similar for major software packages.

I agree 100% with what Glacierfed said above. Note that I only recommend places that sell legit copies.
