Great Wall Mutyanu section - please help

Hello !

We would like to visit the Great Wall, Mutyanu section (or is that Mu Tian Yu ?) but we are not sure about how to reach this site.

Is there any pubblic transportation (buses, trains) or the only way is to hire a guide with its own car/taxi ?

Do you suggest to see Mutyanu section, or other Great Wall sections are good as well, but maybe easier to reach ?

There seems to be a public bus, but I have no experiences with it so can%26#39;t comment.

Hi, I had been to the Great Wall at Badaling Section in 2007.

The one you want to visit is Mutianyu section. You can hire a taxi or join group tours in Beijing. You can find the booklets at the reception desk in the hotels.

Mutianyu is quite far from downtown, no bus to there.

Badaling is developed earlier than Mutianyu, and it was renovation before. It is much more famous than Mutianyu and the tourists are more. If you want to see wild and real wall, Mutianyu is better. But the cost is higher.

Yes. Mutianyu is the best section of Great Wall.

One way is take by public bus from Dongzhimen Long Bus Station to Huairou District and then hire a mini bus to Mutianyu Great Wall. This way will waste your whole day.

Another way is rent a taxi in Beijing City to Mutianyu Great Wall directly and will spend your half day.

The third way is join the tourist group to Mutianyu Great Wall. This way will spend your half day too. The price include car, the ticket and English guide. But you have to shopping on the way.

The easier and cheapest to reach is the Badaling Great Wall but there are many tourists and NOT the best section.

I just came back from Beijing and been to Mutianyu. It%26#39;s just great. Hire someone to drive you there and spend around 3 hours at the Wall. Take a cable car ride up and tobaggan down. It%26#39;s fun. Journey from downtown Beijing to Mutianyu section is about 1 1/2 hours depending on traffic.

It takes about 1.5hours.after the Wall,you can ask you driver drive to Olympic Garden.

Another way,take bus 915 at Dongzhimen Station,get off at Huairou and you will find some cars waiting business at bus station.

I`ve been to Mutianyu great wall couple of times. it is not so difficult to get there, even for foreigns.

Dongzhimeng bus station, take bus 916 to the end ( huairou), 1 hour, then hire a taxi ( about 30 RMB), 20min.

the same way back to downtown.

Meanwhile, I recommend hiking from Jinshanling to Simatai. If you are interested in this section, feel free to ask for more.
