Stanley Market

Is 2 hours long enough to look around the Stanley Markets?

Stanley Market

Short answer is yes. Some people swear by it I think not so great.

Stanley Market

I did it in about 1 hr - it%26#39;s not that big.

hi!

Can someone please tell me how long %26amp; far is it from Kimberley hotel to Stanley Market? and if someone would know the directions?

thx!

One to two hours should be enough. Stanley Market has a collection of small shops selling clothing, antiques, art, souvenir, food, etc. The environment and the experience are probably more interesting than the shops.

From Kimberly Road, you can go to any of the Tsim Sha Tsui bus stops listed in the link below and take 973 all the way to Stanley with no further changes needed. This is a bit of a scenic route and takes almost 90 minutes but you will get to see most of the south side of Hong Kong Island.

You may also take the MTR to Admiralty. Outside Admiralty Station, take bus 260 and 6X to Stanley. These two routes use the Aberdeen Tunnel so this combination will be considerably quicker than 973.

Bus 66 and 6 are two more choices from the Hong Kong side. However, they will take the scenic route as well.

Sammyfloyd, can you suggest a place to see (and maybe buy) some sort of, say, Hong Kong traditional cloth, a folklore kind of suit, or so .. (if something like that is available).

HK ';traditional'; clothing would be like Chinese traditional clothing. The expensive ones would be available at Shanghai Tang. Cheaper non-branded ones are probably available at various markets that cater a bit more to tourists (Ladies Market, Temple St, Stanley).

Just got back from Hong Kong this morning. I would definitely recommend a visit to Stanley Market. For me this was one of the highlights of my trip. If you catch the bus from central station, (I think it was number 70, you may want to double check that) it will take you directly to Stanley Market. The bus ride there takes you on a very scenic route up through the hills/mountains. I would say about 2 hrs would be plenty of time. However, if you have a little more time, you may want to have something to eat along the seafront. I ate at a restaurant called the Seafront and really enjoyed my meal. The staff were great and the prices were reasonable.

Sorry, its not the number 70 bus. These are the details of how to get to Stanley Market from the hong kong tourist board website:-

Stanley Market Road, Stanley, Hong Kong Island (MTR Hong Kong Station Exit D and take bus 6, 6A, 6X, 66 or 260 from Exchange Square Bus terminus, Central)

The bus I went on did clearly display Stanley Market on the front. I hope this helps.

Can anybody comment on the beach at Stanley (this would be for summer time)... safety, cleanliness, kid-friendly? Would they have boogie boards?

Thx.

we loved stanley markets too, different sourvenirs from the other markets.

Make sure you take the bus across the island for the views, not the one through the tunnel. The views are spectacular %26amp; look out for the large building with the hole in it at Repulse Bay
