Western steps takes 7 hours going up - and not much shorter going down as there are still many ';ups'; as well as ';downs';.

Assuming the cable car starts that early and there is no queue and you don%26#39;t visit many of the lookouts or stop for lunch, yes it is possible but why bother - the point of going up Huangshan is to see the views, esp at sunrise..
