Is it possible to see the pandas in the morning in Chengdu Panda Breeding Base and then go to see the Buddha in Leshan on one day (returning to the city in the evening)? Thanks.

from my experience, this plan is impossible.
Leshan Giant Buddha is located 167km south of Chengdu, if you take the tour bus from Xinnanmen Tourism station, about 2hours can get there. and at least you should spend 3hours for visiting. while the Giant Panda base located in the north of Chengdu city. these two spots just in the opposite direction. the time is not enough for both sites.
advise you in the morning visit Giant panda base and then continue to Sanxingdui Museum, which located 40km to the north of Chengdu, is recognized as the most important ancient remains of the Sichuan region for its vast size, long lasting period and enriched cultural contents.
