Our return flight to Australia leaves HKIA at 9.20am,on a Friday.Any idea what time we should leave the Courtyard Marriott? we will be getting a taxi.

Leaving hotel at about 6:30am should be safe if you take a taxi to the airport.
If you are taking a taxi to Hong Kong Station and check-in there and then take the Airport Express train to airport, leaving hotel at about 7am still be ok.

We found the check in at Kowloon station as excellent option.
And so does the Hong Kong Station on Hong Kong Island, which also provides in-town check-in.
Since Courtyard Marriott is at the HK side, you should check-in at the Hong Kong Station if you are using the train.
If you are taxiing all the way to the airport, you can leave as late as 7:00am. That early in the morning, there is little traffic and you will be at the terminal by 7:30am.
