Best method to make hotel reservations

We need to get hotel reservation for 3 nights for the Broadway Mansions Hotel. I read conflicting accounts about reservations made in the US on sites like Expedia or hotels.com. How to ensure that they are honored by the Shanghai hotels?

I have booked thru Expedia for a Chinese run hotel %26amp; it was fine.

If you are worried you can always book thru a Chinese run booking service such as www.ctrip.com or wwww.elong.net Both these sites are safe to use. Or book the hotel direct on their website.

Thank you Annie and CuteMinMin. Unfortunately one site is more expensive than expedia and the other was not found. I wonder if the information (on China hotels not honoring the expedia reservations) is reliable.

Expedia have a bit of a sale on at the moment I think. They are pretty well known, large company %26amp; reliable as far as my experience with them went.

You could also look at www.wotif.com as they have a few specials once in a while

I thought expedia and elong are related so if you book with expedia you are using elong:

Expedia reservations should be fine in China - you can call the hotel directly to confirm if you are worried.

I will follow the advice to book on expedia (which has a 15% sale now) and than check the reservation. Thank you all for your help. Edith
