Looking forward coming to Shanghai in May,
1) was looking for a nice hotel, Shangri-La Pudong,
Le Royal Meridien, The Westin Bund, Four Season?
Its easy to come from Pudong to Bund?
2) The ';Must'; during day, I like old style of Shanghai.
3) Sophisticated Bars and great restaurants in the evening and maybe a late night disco or live music club?
I wanna see a lot of bars in Shanghai, because I%26#39;m in the same business at home, so I%26#39;m interested in whats going on here and maybe find new trends.
Thank%26#39;s for helping!
First time in Shanghai, Hotel and programm from am to pm
1) if you choose to take sightseeing tunnel from Pudong - the bund ( 40RMB one way, 50RMB around trip), it%26#39;s very easy. Taking a taxi is OK but you might meet the traffic jams and one tunnel close to Shangri-la is not available for taxis during the rush hour. Taking subway to East Nanjing Road station then walk around 10-15 min you could get to the Bund as well.
If you come here for travelling, and would like to see the old style of Shanghai, I suggest to choose the hotel in the Puxi part and close to the subway station. Since you like the old style Shanghai %26amp; bars %26amp; night clubs, I will pick up Four Season among all your choices.
2) old town including Yu yuan garden %26amp; bazaar, City old temple
former French concession area
Tianzifang old shanghai gate stone area
maybe you could also try Shanghai history museum in Pearl tower
3) park 97, bonbon, babyface... or try Tongren road bars %26amp; night clubs street.

thanks for the info and have a great weekend!
I will say 4 Season, love the location, should buy that Jin-An 4 Season apartment, now is too late, from 300 to 700 USD a square feet in only 2 years.
You are welcome:D
In 4 season I can feel like the Formular one racer!
right, because Schumacher %26amp; Kimi stayed there before %26gt;_%26lt;~ I saw lots of fans waiting for KIMI outside last year;D
Austria was always great in F1 racing and still we have the Red Bull Team!
One of our greatest racers Niki Lauda celebrated 60thies Birtday some weeks ago. Time goes by ...........
1) Besides all the hotels you mentioned, Hyatt on the bund may also be an option. It%26#39;s on the north end of the bund. In Vue Bar on the top floor, you can have a view of both the old Shanghai buildings and the highrises in Pudong, the new commercial business district. Basically, you can find almost all the worldwide 5-star hotels in Shanghai.
Pudong is a quite big arabouea, if you stay close to the river side, the quickest way to Bund is by the ferry which is about 10 mins walk south to Shangri-La Pudong. Or you can take Metro Line 2 from Pudong to Nanjing East Road, where is the pedestrian street. You can walk eastward from the station to the bund, which may cost you 5-10 mins, depending on which exit you get out from. Taxi is not highly recommended from Pudong to Bund. It%26#39;s a bit detour, and you can get stuck in the traffic at the tunnel.
2) The ';Must'; during the day can be walking around the old town, which is called ';Yu Yuan';, if you prefer seeing the old Shanghai.
3) There are too many good bars, restaurants and clubs in Shanghai. It%26#39;s just too difficult to list out everything. When you get to Shanghai, get some city guide magazines, on which they have the listings and the events. However, you may want some advices from the local before you go anywhere.
Another thing you must know is that you may find the language being the biggest barrier. Hence, I suggest that you stay at 5-star hotel and get the assistance from the conciege.
Hope the above information can be helpful. Wish you a pleasant trip and stay in Shanghai.
about the bars and night life in shanghai, i don%26#39;t suggest you going to the bars in Tongren Road or Hengshan Road, which are too ';sleezy'; and ';shady';. bars on the bund, such as Vault/Laris (3 on the Bund), New Heights (3 on the Bund), Glamour (5 on the Bund), G%26amp;B (6 on the Bund), Bar Rouge, Lounge 18 (18 on the Bund). there are also some good clubs and bars all around the city (mostly in Puxi, the west side of the river). Mint, Sin, Velvet... there are really too many.
if you happen to dance salsa, there is a salsa party almost everyday of the week at different bars.
for live music, Blues %26amp; Jazz in Fuzhou Road, Cotton Club in Huaihai M. Road, and JZ Club in Fuxing W. Road have live band(s) everyday.
I was thinking also staying at Hyatt on the Bund, because of the great view from the rooms and very new hotel.
I will see!
Thanks for your help!
