RMB notes

Will I be able to obtain RMB notes from an ATM in Hong Kong? I plan on using the ATM machines instead of carrying much money.

RMB notes

Some Bank of China ATMs in Hong Kong dispense both HK$ and Rmb.

Be careful of fake Rmb100 notes. See

RMB notes

Hi,hope you are aware, that though HK has returned to China, but transaction are still carried out in Hong Kong dollars and not RMB.

Thanks for the thread informing on how to distinguish RMB100 from fake and real.

Gosh,is there one (similar to Black and White Cat) for fake and real HKD1,000.00

Thank you very much for the information. I can see that it is going to be very difficult to determine what is a real and what is a fake note. Is it only the 100 note that is fake?

What should I do if I happen to find a fake note?

AGAD

The highest domination of Rmb notes is 100Rmb. Therefore, this is the one which is most often copied and the one you should be most careful about fakes. Generally, banks and ATM machines are ok; the main danger of getting a fake is when you give a taxi driver 100Rmb and then he returns %26#39;it%26#39; to you saying it is fake. Actually, he has switched the good note you gave him for a fake note. This also can happen in shops, and some hotels when you leave a cash deposit.

Fake HK bank notes are less of a problem - which is a good thing as there are 500 and 1000 $ notes.
